· FREE TOY CROCHET PATTERN

Moon Ball is a soft and playful crochet ball inspired by the surface of the moon. The small circular details scattered across the ball resemble tiny craters, giving it a whimsical and slightly retro look – and that’s exactly how it got its name. This project is perfect if you enjoy working with colour combinations and simple shapes. The ball is made from individual panels that are crocheted separately and then joined together, making it a fun and satisfying make that’s easy to take along with you. It’s also a great way to use up small amounts of leftover yarn. The finished Moon Ball works beautifully as a baby toy, a decorative item for a nursery, or a handmade gift. Crocheted in cotton yarn, it’s soft, lightweight, and pleasant to hold – ideal for little hands.

4.rd: 1 sc, 1 inc, 1 sc x 5 (20)

5.rd: 1 inc, 3 sc x 5 (25)

6.rd: 2 sc, (1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 hdc), 2 sc x 5 (35)

Cut the yarn and fasten off. Make 12.

DECORATION

Embroider flowers and leaves onto each patch before assembly.

ASSEMBLING

First, create two semicircles by joining 6 patches for each half of the ball. Join the patches using single crochets worked through both loops of each piece, working from the wrong side. Once both semicircles are complete, join them together in the same way, still working from the wrong side. When there are two sides left to join, turn the work right side out. Insert stuffing and a rattle ball, if desired. Close the opening by sewing with double thread. Fasten off securely and weave in all ends.

DEKORATION
